Scientific Workshop On Updating Guidelines For Hernia Treatment
Nguyen Dinh Chieu Hospital, in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City University Medical Center, recently organized a scientific workshop focused on updating guidelines for inguinal hernia treatment (a condition where abdominal organs protrude through the inguinal canal into the subcutaneous tissue or descend into the scrotum).
Deputy Director of the Department of Health, Phạm Quốc Tuấn, along with doctors from hospitals and health centers in the districts and cities of the province, and doctors from Tra Vinh Provincial Hospital, Tien Giang, and Dong Thap, attended the event. The speakers from Ho Chi Minh City University Medical Center presented on various aspects of inguinal hernia pathology. Specific topics included initial and recurrent hernia treatment guidelines; anatomy of the inguinal region from both anterior and posterior perspectives; TEP and TAPP techniques (minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery techniques); and mesh selection (a technique used in hernia repair).
Following the workshop, the speakers and surgical team performed a live demonstration of an inguinal hernia surgery using the TEP technique. The procedure was broadcast live on screen, allowing attendees to follow along and ask questions related to the surgery.
The workshop aimed to share methods for treating inguinal hernia, discuss techniques for hernia repair, and provide an opportunity for medical professionals to meet, exchange experiences, and improve the quality of care for hernia patients.
